Our acts are magicians, and some of them include mind reading in their performances. If that's the style you want, say so when you enquire and we'll put forward magicians whose act fits.
What mentalism is
Mentalism is a branch of magic that focuses on the mind rather than objects. Instead of making a coin vanish, the performer appears to read thoughts, predict choices, influence decisions or know details they couldn't possibly know.
It's created with skill, psychology and showmanship. It's entertainment, and good performers present it with a smile, though the best of it will leave sceptics arguing about how it was done.
Mind reading at close quarters
It works brilliantly close up, too. A small group might find a word one of them only thought of already written inside a sealed envelope, or watch a stranger name a person they're picturing.
Because it's about people rather than props, mind reading feels personal. It wins over guests who might shrug at a card trick, and it keeps them talking long after the performer has moved on.
Mentalism on stage
On stage, mind reading becomes a show for the whole room. Volunteers are invited up, a prediction is sealed at the start and opened at the end, and the audience becomes part of the story.
This works well as an after-dinner set at a corporate dinner, awards night or large private party, usually lasting 20 to 45 minutes. It needs a microphone, a clear performing area and everyone facing the same way.
Is a mind reader right for your event?
Mentalism suits adult audiences best, especially corporate events, milestone birthdays and evening wedding receptions. Young children often find it less exciting than visual magic, so for a family event a mix of styles may work better.
Some guests love being 'read'; others are shy. A good performer can tell the difference and never makes anyone feel uncomfortable in front of colleagues or family.
How to book a mentalist for hire
When you enquire, say you'd like mind reading and whether you want it close up, on stage or both. Tell us about the audience and the occasion, and we'll suggest magicians whose performances include it.
Ask to see video of the mind reading itself, as some magicians mix a little into a broader act while others make it the main focus.
