Oxford has some of the most beautiful event spaces in the country, and a few of them are just down the road in Woodstock. Pop us a message with your plans and we'll come back with available magicians and a clear quote.
Hiring a magician in Oxford city centre
Oxford Town Hall is a big Victorian building right in the middle of town with several rooms licensed for ceremonies, plus a Main Hall for receptions. The Randolph, on Beaumont Street, is a classic Oxford hotel that hosts weddings and Christmas parties, and it sits directly opposite the Ashmolean.
The Ashmolean itself hires out galleries, its rooftop restaurant and other spaces for private dinners and receptions. Magic among the exhibits is a lovely touch. Guests get a few minutes of wonder in a room full of treasures.
College weddings and dinners
Lots of Oxford colleges host dinners and receptions, and some take weddings for their members and alumni. These events often have a fixed timetable set by the college, so we check the running order carefully.
Magic at the pre-dinner drinks in a quad or a common room is the classic choice. It's sociable, it's quiet, and it doesn't get in the way of formal college traditions.
Dress codes can be quite formal at college events. Tell us if it's black tie and the magician will dress to match, so they blend in with your guests rather than standing out.
Blenheim and the bigger occasions
Blenheim Palace, at Woodstock, is about as grand as it gets. Its restored Orangery hosts weddings, corporate dinners and private parties, and the palace has other rooms and lawns for larger events.
At a venue on that scale, think about where your guests will be and when. A magician during the drinks keeps everyone together and entertained while the light's good for photos. Then table magic at dinner, so the formal bit doesn't drag.
Big estates mean big distances too. Car parks can be a long walk from the event space, and timings at palace venues are usually strict, so we get all the details from your coordinator before the day.
Academic and corporate crowds
Oxford's events often have an academic or professional flavour: alumni dinners, publishing parties, research conferences. These audiences like something clever. A magician who mixes sleight of hand with a bit of mind reading usually lands well.
For corporate events, magic at the reception is the easy win. And it's a gentler icebreaker than any team-building game.
Some clients ask for something a bit more theatrical, like a mind reading routine that ties in with their company or a short set that opens a conference session. Most of our magicians are happy to tailor what they do, so just ask.
Getting around Oxford and the county
Driving into central Oxford is hard work. Many streets are restricted, parking's very limited and the park and rides exist for a reason. We check access and unloading with your venue well before the day.
Blenheim and the country venues are easier, with parking on site, but allow time for the walk from car park to event space.
Plenty of Oxford celebrations happen outside the city, in village halls, country pubs and marquees in the Cotswolds. Close-up magic suits those smaller, relaxed settings just as well as the palaces.
We'll plan the magician's travel, check where to park, and agree a start time with you so they arrive when guests are ready to be entertained.
