Newcastle's venues go from a brewery in a 1920s exhibition hall to a Georgian ballroom and a racecourse. Send over the details and we'll reply with available magicians and a price.
Characterful venues, and how magic fits them
Newcastle does unusual venues brilliantly. Wylam Brewery is in the Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park, the last building left standing from the 1929 North East Coast Exhibition, and it hosts weddings and parties in its Grand Hall. The Discovery Museum on Blandford Square hires out its Great Hall for weddings and private events.
Relaxed spaces like these are made for roaming magic. People are standing about, chatting, wandering to the bar. A magician can drift from group to group without interrupting anything.
Wedding magician in Newcastle, Geordie style
North East weddings tend to be warm, loud and full of family. That's a great crowd for a magician. People get involved, shout out, and before long there's a little audience gathered round every trick.
The drinks reception is the classic slot, especially if you're off to the Quayside or a nearby park for photos. A second short set while the room's turned round for the evening keeps day guests entertained while they wait.
Lots of family celebrations on Tyneside include children, and close-up magic is great for mixed ages. If you're after a dedicated children's entertainer for a kids' party, let us know when you enquire.
We'll find you a children's party magician who suits the age group, with a show built around them rather than the adults.
A Georgian ballroom in the city centre
The Assembly Rooms on Fenkle Street are Georgian, with chandeliered suites and a ballroom used for weddings, gala dinners and corporate receptions. In a formal room like that, magic at the tables between courses fits well. It adds a bit of fun without taking the evening over.
Planning an awards dinner? A magician's handy for the slightly awkward bits too, like when everyone's hunting for their seat or waiting for the presentations to start.
A lot of Newcastle firms use the city's grander rooms for client dinners and anniversaries. A magician gives those events a talking point that's a bit more fun than the usual round of speeches.
Corporate events at Gosforth Park
Newcastle Racecourse, in High Gosforth Park on the north edge of the city, runs a big conference and events side with suites for dinners, exhibitions and parties. Events there often mix a drinks reception, a sit-down meal and something in the evening.
With a few hundred guests we'll often suggest two magicians working different ends of the room during the reception. That way nobody misses out.
If you're hosting a race day or a team event at the course, a magician can work the hospitality areas between races too. It keeps guests entertained during the gaps and gives your hosts an easy way to mingle.
Getting around Tyneside on the day
City-centre events near the Quayside and Grey Street have limited parking, so we sort out unloading with the venue beforehand. Toon home games and Great North Run weekend make the centre heavy going, and we plan for it.
Venues on the edges, like Gosforth Park and Exhibition Park, are easier to drive to and there's parking nearby.
Most of our magicians are happy to perform for a couple of hours without a break, but if your event runs longer, we'll agree a sensible split with you. That way the magic lands when it's most useful, not just when the clock says so.
